Singapore is surrounded by great diving sites, and as there are many diving schools here, beginners can undertake courses leading to internationally recognised NAUI or PADI certification.

Classes are held during the day or night, and often include a trip to a nearby island where you can practise your newly-acquired skills.

Off the coast of Terengganu, the northernmost state of the Malaysian east coast, is Pulau Redang. The island, which is much more inaccessible than Pulau Tioman, used to be a divers' secret, but now a brand new golf course has just been completed there.
