Singapore is surrounded by great diving sites, and as there are
many diving schools here, beginners can undertake courses leading
to internationally recognised NAUI or PADI certification.
Classes are held during the day or night, and often include a trip
to a nearby island where you can practise your newly-acquired skills.
With certification in hand, choose among the many spectacular diving
sites along the east coast of Malaysia to discover and explore.
Pulau Tioman
Pulau Tioman, off the coast of the Malaysian state of Pahang,
is perhaps the most popular of diving sites among Singaporeans.
With beautiful beaches, it is easily accessible by Singapore by
bus and ferry, or direct ferry.
Clear water and coral provide plenty of snorkelling and diving
opportunities.
The large beach resort - Berjaya Tioman - is a great place to
be based; or for more peace and quiet you can stay at the many
smaller and inexpensive guest houses.
Pulau Redang
Off
the coast of Terengganu, the northernmost state of the Malaysian
east coast, is Pulau Redang.
The island, which is much more inaccessible than Pulau Tioman,
used to be a divers' secret, but now a brand new golf course has
just been completed there. A nearby island, Pulau Lang Tengah , is also great for snorkelling.
Pulau Kapas
Pulau
Kapas , offshore from the town of Marang in Teregganu, is small
but beautiful. Clear water, powdery white sand - it is known as
a snorkellers' paradise.
The tiny nearby island of Pulau Raja also offers some good
snorkelling. |
