The Sarkies were also proprieters of the Eastern & Oriental Hotel and Crag Sanitarium in Penang and the Strand in Rangoon as well as the Seaview and Grosvenor in Singapore. The artwork continues the Singapore theme and includes original artwork.

Sir Stamford Raffles Suite

The premier suite in Raffles Hotel is named after the founder of modern Singapore and the Hotel’s namesake. A man of many talents, this East India Company Officer also made himself known as a zoologist and historian, and received knighthood.

The artwork in this suite has a Singapore theme and includes rare prints of Singapore which show the trading settlement during its earliest days; antique botanical drawings including the Rafflesia; and a selection of prints from Raffles’ ‘History of Java’
