Suntec City

Suntec City is a vast complex boasting a shopping mall, an exhibition and conference centre and office tower blocks. Due to its sheer size there are a few flagship stores including a Carrefour hypermarket, and electronics specialist Harvey Norman. There’s a movie theatre, video arcades and almost always a fair being held in addition to the odd sporting tournament. It’s worth checking out what else is on for you to see when you’ve finished shopping.

Suntec shopping mall is the second largest after VivoCity and has a total of 360 retail outlets over four floors featuring brand names, department stores and plenty of restaurants. Promotions and sales are regular features, plus there is also a tourist card offering discounts for visiting shoppers.

There are plenty of shopping options at Suntec City, whether you’re after clothes, accessories, books or electrical goods you’ll find everything you need within this mega-mall. The complex is sectioned into four zones to help shoppers get around with ease; the zones are based on the Feng Shui design of the centre.

The Galleria is on the ground floor which is where you’ll find all the high-end designer labels, whilst the Tropics are home to more high-street affordable items including homewear and electronic merchandise. The Fountain Terrace is where most of the restaurants are located and the Entertainment Centre is the fourth zone dedicated to a whole host of pleasure and leisure pursuits.

Eating at Suntec City mostly takes place around the Fountain of Wealth in the Fountain Terrace zone. There are all the usual fast food outlets, plus two food courts and plenty of decent restaurants open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Bombay Café Xpress

This Bollywood styled diner has a tasty menu offering great food at good prices. The café is vibrant and noisy and the fare aims to be authentic Indian street food. Rumoured to have some of the best Indian vegetarian dishes in Singapore; check out the lunch buffet or the tandoori gobhi accompanied with a mango shake.

Soup Restaurant

Open for lunch and dinner, the Soup Restaurant serves simple Chinese cuisine. The main signature dish is the Samsui Ginger Chicken, the hand chopped minced pork with salted fish is also popular and usually sells out daily. The food here is suitable for family or group dining with set menus available.

Grand Salads

For a very healthy option visit Grand Salads located at the basement of Tower 4. You can choose from one of the featured salads including Greek or opt to pick and mix your own for a set price. There are also wraps on the menu, again you can order a featured one or opt to create your own.

There are a wealth of entertainment facilities at Suntec City, go to the North East of the mall and discover a Cineplex, a fitness centre and a games arcade. Virtual land and Star Factory are both situated on Level 3 offering arcades and computer games galore, great fun for teenagers and adults alike.

For younger kids there is an outdoor playground located at the Sky Garden, also on Level 3. The convention centre and exhibition hall are also worth a look, recent events include the Youth Olympic Games.

Suntec City is positioned next to the Central Business District and easily accessible by MRT or bus. Via MRT depart at Esplanade Station or at City Hall and walk for 10 minutes through the City Link mall, or take the a free shuttle bus between City Hall MRT and Suntec City. Buses stop right outside the convention centre, there are also two basement levels offering over 3,000 car parking spaces charged by the hour.

Unlike other shopping malls, Suntec City is best visited over the weekend when the neighbouring city workers are taking a rest.
